RISNJAK NATIONAL PARK (RISNJAK NATIONAL PARK)
RISNJAK NATIONAL PARK (RISNJAK NATIONAL PARK) – Located in the north-west of Croatia, in the mountainous forest area, around 16 km from Rijeki and the coast of the Adriatic Sea, near the border of Slovenia.
The name of Risnyak comes from the Croatian word RIS, meaning «Lynx».
Park area area – about 63.5 km², Height difference – from 290 to 1528 meters, the highest peaks — Great-Risnjak (Veliki Risnjak) – 1528 meters and snowfield (SNJE&# 382; NIK) – 1506 meters.
Despite its rather modest sizes of Retnyak National Park, famous for magnificent mountain landscapes, where thick forests alternate with alpine meadows.
The main trees of the park – the beech and fir. Also among trees there are marshs, pines, ash, oaks, planenes, tees, and among plants – different types of orchids, Edelweiss and Rhododendron.
Rich here and animal world – Bears, deer, Lans, Bumbinki, Laski, Squirrels, Kurtitsa and Rysy.
Risnyak National Park is not so famous as, for example, Plitvice Lakes or Krk, but, undoubtedly, worthy of visiting. The trekking and cycling routes of various levels of difficulty are laid on its territory.
It is also possible to make climbing to the tops – Great-Risnyak and Snezhnik.
Administration and entrance to the Rusnyak National Park for tourists are located in the village of TsRNI Luga (CRNI LUG).
The cost of the entrance ticket to the park (valid for two days) is – For adults 40 kun, schoolchildren, students and retirees – 50% discount. Children under 7 years old – free.
On the territory of Risnyak, it is possible to move both independently and as part of the group (with a guide).
